A popular quiz question is: what’s the capital of Australia? If you answered Sydney or Melbourne then it’s time to discover the real answer – Canberra. With Parliament House at its core, Canberra fans out across both sides of Lake Burley Griffin to reveal a diverse mix of museums, restaurants and bars filled with curious tourists, political persons and public servants.
Canberra was created as a solution to Australia’s 2 largest cities squabbling over the right to become the national capital. The Limestone Plains region in New South Wales was chosen as the site for present day Canberra. It was a good choice for nature lovers as it is surrounded by bushland, mountain ranges and, more recently, wineries.
The National Gallery, National Museum and National Library of Australia highlight Canberra’s cultural riches. Other notable institutions to visit are the High Court of Australia and the National Film and Sound Archive that stockpiles a collection of Australia’s early radio, television and film history.
The military also plays a significant role here with many training facilities for the army such as the Australian Defence Force Academy. An unforgettable experience is attending the Anzac Day Dawn service at The Australian War Memorial.
Australia’s cultural capital with a political punch has many hotels, motels and apartments on Booking.com for that city trip, business jaunt or family holiday.

Lots of things to see - Museum, art gallery etc, all close to each other. Some things are further afield and worth seeing, so a car is very useful/necessary. I discovered the buses don't take cash and I would have to apply for a travel card 7-10 days in advance to get it in the mail! They don't take credit cards either (apparently that is coming in November 2024, but not much use to me when my friends weren't able to give me a lift as planned!) I can't believe a city that wants visitors makes it IMPOSSIBLE to go anywhere by bus or light train!

Canberra is a wonderful city to visit.
Canberra is a wonderful city to visit. Heaps to see and do with some fabulous restaurants. Gorgeous in the Autumn, especially on the lake. Take into account there is a lot of construction happening in the city so some attractions like the War Memorial are a bit less than they can be. The extension to the light rail is still under construction but will be fabulous when it's done.

I would say if a coloured map of Canberra could be available to people, A Map will full details including sites to see eg Resturants, parliament house, mountain drives, tours. I did find a map but the lettering was too small to read and insufficient information. The Name of the Apartments could be clearly shown.
The room was fantastic. We arrived at the door to find the cutest sausage dog mat - that indicated it was indeed a very pet friendly hotel. Then when we went inside, there was a plush dog bed & water bowl. What a welcome. The hotel was very centrally located in the CBD area of Canberra - very handy for restaurants/cafes etc. There is also a fab little cafe right next to/part of the hotel - great coffee & croissants.
Quest City Walk is located at the heart of Civic and it is easily accessible via bus and light rail. From there, you can visit many landmarks around Canberra by foot or by public transport. The hotel is clean and has all the essential amenities which you need. The only downside is that room service is not available on weekends. The hotel also provides free laundry service, very handy for guests on a long stay.
Excellent accomodation for a couple of days. An easy drive in to the centre of Canberra to visit attractions. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were a good size and spotlessly clean. Beds were comfortable. We had booked last minute as our trip was impacted by weather and floods and we extended our stay an extra night. The staff were extremely helpful.
Excellent location five minutes' walk to Civic (CBD), with cafes and restaurants nearby. Easy parking in basement (there's a fee for parking but that is pretty common in central Canberra). Spacious, clean room. Upper floors away from Northbourne Avenue have the quietest rooms. It's not the cheapest hotel in town but it's the one we keep returning to.
The location of the hotel was excellent. Close to shops and transport.
The restaurant / dining area was so convenient. The meals and service were very satisfactory.
The room was quite spacious and housekeeping was excellent.
It was a very pleasant stay. I would happily come back for any future visits to Canberra.
I absolutely loved this hotel. The staff are very professional and friendly, and the decor of the hotel is incredible! The room we stayed in was beautiful, bathroom was amazing and the bed was a dream to sleep in. Great location to the main part of Canberra as well.
I like the location. There are good places to eat all around you. It’s very close to the lake for morning exercise & reasonable close to Australian National Gallery which we include in every visit to Canberra.
It is a nice style of hotel.
Comfortable bed. Reasonable sized light filled room. Large TV screen. Well-designed (but cheaply done) room renovations. Interesting Australian prime minister themed hotel/motel (located in Curtin after all). Situated in Curtin shops.
The apartment was comfortable. The bed was superb. The meal at the restaurant was delicious and well priced. The staff were welcoming. We have been three times to this hotel now,and will continue to stay when we visit Canberra.
The Village Hostels Canberra provides a great experience with its central location, clean rooms, and well-equipped kitchen. The friendly staff and inviting atmosphere make it a top choice for a pleasant stay in Canberra.
When I visited Dubai last year, I stayed at Ramada hotel in downtown Dubai and I liked it. Hence, I booked Ramada in Canberra. During my stały in Canberra, I liked the location and the interior finishes of Ramada.
We liked our room & liked being on the 1st floor. Our breakfast was nice & we enjoyed the drink the night before. We were lucky to get some free parking a few minutes walk away. We love the location of the hotel.
Great ambiance in the lounge/bar. Clean rooms. Tastefully decorated hotel in general. The free mini bar was an unexpected plus! Very close to the lake and a run/workout. Good breakfast and very friendly staff.
A true hidden gem and it’s my go to hotel in Canberra. The atrium bar was alive with people when I arrived and is a gorgeous relaxed environment to chill in.
