Beautiful and compact size city. Not too crowded yet.
Beautiful and compact size city. Not too crowded yet. Easy travel from/to Arlanda airport. Bus(801) is cheaper than train. Short distances almost everywhere in the city. Rentable E-bikes and E-scooters available. English language is widely in use. My experiences are from summertime only. I`ll definately come back again.

Uppsala is one of Sweden's oldest cities and well worth a visit. I had not been for 30 years and was so pleasantly surprised how much there was to do both within the city and just outside the city. It's very walkable and very safe. I loved my visit to the University Library to see the Silver Bible "Codex Argenteus". I also love churches and the Cathedral the biggest in Scandinavia did not disappoint. Gustav Vasa the founder of Modern Sweden is buried here. The botanical garden I am sure is wonderful later in the year when it's all blooming. I ate at the cafe near the gardens called Cafe Victoria and it was excellent. There are lots of eateries and "watering holes" but be mindful alcohol sold in bars and restaurants are very pricey. Use the Systembolaget and get a bottle and have a picnic in the park. Uppsala is a university city so very lively and has easy access to Stockholm should you wish.

City I love to visit, very easy for tourists, good shopping and restaurants. Public transport is great, or you can hire a bicycle and get round like the locals.
Clean and safe, lots of history, old city, cathedral and castle. Was once the capital of Sweden.
Very close to nature, easy to get to the old Viking mounds.
Down side, it's expensive,

I actually live here so I only have good things to say about it. The city is big but not too big. Not crowded. Clean. It is beautiful with a lot of historical sites to visit. It is also very interpenetration and it's extremely easy to get around with just english. Public transportation is top notch, but if you have the opportunity to bike instead, do it.
I didn't have a problem with anything. I'm an older traveller but like the minimum of fuss and good cleanliness, and that's what I got. I can't understand the moans about the showers. If there's an overhead shower you can take it off the hook and use it. Being Sweden I found all guests respectable and they left the showers clean and dry. The water was plentiful and hot, and isn't that all you need.
Excellent, from the first moment when checking in. Very pleasant members of staff at reception, dinning room, welcoming smile of Consierge at the doors. THis is to me FIRST CLASS hotel and certainly would visit again once in Uppsala.
Room nicely decorated, lounge, corridors.....you are stepping back to Victorian times.
The staff was incredibly accomodating for my parents, who had flown in the abroad. They had multiple reservations due to us coming and going in Sweden, and they made sure to combine the reservations AND provide the same pillows that were requested. Truly above and beyond expectations!
We liked the kindness of the hostess very much We got the impression that every detail in this hostel has been thought out and designed with great care and elegance. If we - four pensioners - had any prejudices against hostels, staying in Uppsala dispelled them.
Fresh, quiet and quite minimalistic rooms. Comfy beds. Practical location right next to the train station.
Works perfectly well for just sleeping overnight if the main point of your visit in Uppsala is something else than spending time at the hotel.
YId The service was very efficient, there is no reception but you get an access code by email, everything is neat and cosy, the brrakfast is buffet style at a sister hotel close by, location is great close to the central station and the city centre
Clean room in a really nice area. Breakfast was good and diverse. Really close by the beautiful university buildings, the castle, the botanical garden and city center. If I come back one day to Uppsala, I know where I would stay again.
The hotel provided breakfast as well as dinner, Both were really good. The room was clean, average size comfortable beds.
We enjoyed the breads at the meals, They were baked in the hotel. Free coffee/tea and cookies during the day.
Check-in was easy, you only have to keep in mind to get the keys at the hotel. There is nobody at the apartment hotel. The apartment is in the city center, that's great. The living room including the kitchen offers a lot of space.
Over the last years, I chose Akademi hotell for all my visits to Uppsala. I would not have done so if I didn't like there. Rooms, breakfast, facilities, location ... for me the best choice. And the staff is very nice and helpful.
Delicious breakfast. The bar area is very nice with games like dart and shuffelboard, but also for hangning out in the afternoon. Everything was nice and clean. If I go to Uppsala i will defenetly stay at Hotel Botanika again.
Very well located in Uppsala city centre. Variety of choices for breakfast. There was a common kitchen with fridge dishwasher and all necessary appliances, available for all guests in the hotel. The room was really quiet.
With regards to cost, location, convenience, friendly staff, functionality of the apartment and cleanliness, the Foundry is the absolute best place to stay in Uppsala. 😊 I plan to stay there again!
I have been to Sweden several times, it was the best among the hotels and Apartments I have ever stayed in. clean rooms and bed. The kitchen was very good in the bathroom and everything. thanks!
Staff was really kind and helpful. The intention with our stay was to help our daughter to move from one apartment to another in Uppsala, so the location was great. Breakfast was also good.
The location on the River Walk at the heart of Uppsala. loved the old world charm of this hotel, the large rooms facing out to the river, the excellent breakfast.
