Mariposa is a nice country town with good range of shops, services and food options for its size (including a supermarket), even in our early spring visiting time. This is due to its proximity to Yosemite NP about 70km away (our reason for visiting). If using the YARTs bus service to access the park its a great base.

Mariposa is about as close you can get to Yosemite without staying in the park, but it's still an hour drive from the valley. This is fine if you're visiting the park for 1 or 2 days, but after 2 days, you'll definitely have had enough of the driving. The town itself is very cute and has tons of nice places to eat. There is also a very large supermarket.

The Day and Night Staff were very kind and helpful, everything was clean and functional, and you CANNOT beat the natural beauty a short distance away. Yosemite is a national treasure for good reason. :)

Mariposa is a small town, nothing much to see.
Mariposa is a small town, nothing much to see. We stayed there to visit Yosemite. But Mariposa has no mobile coverage, Had we known that beforehand, we'd have stayed in Yosemite village, inside the park, which has good mobile coverage.

Great little town, very hot in the summer.
Great little town, very hot in the summer. Near the Yosemite Park entrance that is closest to Yosemite Valley. It is historic with several nice shops and restaurants. Check out The Grove House for a great selection of Micro Brews and great food. Excellent mixed drinks and live music as well! Stay here if you don't want to spend over $400.00 a night!
Mary is an incredible host and inn-keeper. My wife and I made a last minute getaway for a mini-honeymoon and Mary was kind enough to place us in a honeymoon suite with a ton of charm and character. Friday night was a little loud outside of the hotel, but we had no difficulty drowning out the sound with the well-functioning AC. Otherwise, there is a very cute deck for your morning coffee/fruit/pastry and you couldn't be better situated in downtown Mariposa.
Clean and comfortable room, cute well maintained grounds, friendly staff. This is obviously a cared for property. Easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, grocery store. Proximity to Yosemite Valley - since camping reservations are so tough to get and lodging in the valley is so steep we often stay in mariposa and drive in. We’ve stayed at several properties in mariposa over the years and would probably stay here again.
Location was close to Yosemite. I liked that it was close to the restaurants/bars/breweries of downtown Mariposa. The front desk person was very friendly and super helpful and accommodating. Despite being busy due to many people arriving around the same time as me and my wife, she made sure to make us feel like we were tended to and for us to feel comfortable enough to reach out if there's anything we needed.
The check-in was smooth and fast. The room was well equipped. The breakfast was mostly only sweet stuff, but had a bigger variety than some other inns. The location is also good, you can explore Mariposa on food, and only 45 min left to reach the Yosemite Valley. So if you wanna arrive in the early morning at Yosemite NP then I would recommend to at least spend one night at Mariposa.
Everything is brand new, very finely decorated, clean and indeed cozy. Fully equipped, with some extra snacks coffee and tea the owners leave for the guests.
Very private but with quick access to Mariposa, and convenient acess to Yosemite (it's a drive but there are very very few closer options).
Great night sky view from the back porch.
Good price for such a lovely place.
We arrived very late...there was nothing there from Bookings.com so the room we booked wasnt available. The young lady Ginny found us a different room away from any noise and arranged the price the same as it was more expensive not sure why...
The hotel is an older BW so quaint, but we slept so well after travelling 24 hours
The hotel boasts an exceptional location, conveniently situated near major attractions and transport links. The rooms are well-appointed, featuring a comprehensive range of amenities that cater to both comfort and convenience. This combination of a prime location and excellent facilities makes for a truly pleasant stay.
River Rock Inn looks like it has been converted into sleep-outs from what were once horse stables. There is no breakfast included in the booking cost. Our room was overly expensive compared to the other approximately 80 hotels and motels that I stayed in during my tour of the USA. I would not recommend this Inn.
near to Yosemite National Park, huge parking lot, nice staff, shopping opportunity at the reception, good breakfast, spacious room, we specifically requested a quiet room in advance and the staff fulfilled our request, so it's a big plus
Location is perfect to visit Yosemite valley and Mariposa Grove. Very quiet location with great facilities. The lodges have a lovely mountain feel and Christine, the host was lovely and very accommodating. We had a fab stay!
The room was clean and comfortable. There were a few restaurants nearby, within walking distance. It was an easy approximately 1 hour and 15 minute drive to Yosemite. Check in and check out was very easy.
The hotel was great, had everything we needed. Room large and comfortable. Breakfast room was a bonus
Loved Mariposa too, great place to stay and much better value than staying in Yosemite
